Ad agencies are often focused on the planning, creating and production of advertisements for products or services of which are provided by their client’s business. Many ad agencies also handle branding, sales promotions and marketing for their clients.

Advertising is a way of communicating with consumers about products or services on the market. The purpose of advertising is to persuade those consumers that they should purchase or take advantage of these services, products or even ideas. Effective advertisements are used as a call to action to urge consumers to respond in a way that boosts the awareness of a company’s brand image. advertising agencies are responsible for developing the creative concepts that make up an advertisement.

 

Advertising uses several methods in order to gain a consumer’s attention and stand out among products that are similar. Advertising agencies do their best to create advertisements that tap into the emotions and interests of consumers. Often times, humor, sentiment and shock tactics are used in order to leave a lasting impression of the advertisement on the minds of consumers. Brand imaging is a term used to describe the feelings and images that consumers associate with a particular brand name or product. Often times these feelings and images are powerful enough to influence a consumer to purchase goods and services. Through brand recognition, consumers are able to identify a product. Brand imaging is based on the idea that consumers not only purchase a product out of necessity, but because of the feelings the product provokes. Feelings of sophistication, power, wealth and others are what help to make up the company’s brand image. A company can have multiple brand images, but most advertising agencies hope to create an image that is presented in one single coherent way that is easily understood by consumers.

There are many forms of advertising. Television and radio commercials, newspaper ads, magazine advertorials, billboards and posters remain some of the most popular forms of advertising. In recent years, advertising has branched into developing advertisements specific for the Internet. Many advertising agencies have begun to develop mixed media campaigns that combine traditional methods of advertising along with new media to win their clients the attention of consumers at every angle.
